From the President

I hope you have had a chance for some rest and relaxation this summer, and are ready to join us for some great technical sessions, earn CPE credits and enlarge your network. Our Board has come up with an impressive list of eight programs for 2003-2004.  Check out the program on our website, write the dates on your calendar now, and post the schedule on the wall as a reminder.   The new year is off to a great start with over 20 hours of CPE being offered in September at a very reasonable cost !

We would like to invite you to our first dinner meeting on September 18th.   Our speaker is Stuart Levine of Levine Associates and host of ExecuNet.

For all new members since last October 2002 we are offering a special New Member Orientation session from 6:00 pm to 6:30 pm.  This is meant for any new members of our chapter, but anyone who wants to learn more about National or local benefits are free to attend.  For those interested, please check the box on the registration form.

GET CERTIFIED ! The Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and the Certified in Financial Management (CFM) Programs have been designed to recognize the unique qualifications and expertise of those professionals engaged in management accounting and financial management.   Our next CMA/CFM review session for Part II is September 6th and 13th .

This year we will continue to e-mail the newsletter and other important information to you.   If your e-mail address as provided to IMA National is missing or needs updating, you can make the corrections on line at www.imanet.org  in the members only section.  You can also check your profile, update any of your personal information, add CPE hours as well as renew your membership online

We would be delighted and honored to see you at our September events.  Your Chapter is accomplishing its goals of high-quality, low cost CPE opportunities and meaningful networking opportunities.  We hope to see you there.

Sincerely,

Kathy Santos-Rezendes

President

                The CMA/CFM Examinations

             The CMA/CFM Program

The CMA/CFM programs certify professional competence in the broad fields of management accounting and financial management.  These certification programs are administered by the Institute of Management Accountants  (PO Box 405, Montvale, NJ,07645-0405,  1-800-638-4427).

The Certified Management Accountant designation was developed by the ICMA in 1972 to provide an objective measure of the individual's knowledge and competence in the field of management accounting.  Only the CMA program recognizes the unique proficiencies required for success in this challenging profession.  The CMA program has received the endorsement of approximately 200 corporate and academic organizations.

The Certified in Financial Management designation provides an objective measure of an individual's knowledge and competence in the field of financial management.  The ICMA created the CFM because the unique skills, experience, and knowledge of the financial management profession have long required a dedicated certification of excellence.  We think you will agree that the CFM Program recognizes the proficiency required by the financial management profession.  The CFM Program is co-sponsored by the Financial Management Association International which is the premier academic association for financial management.  Additional information can be found at http://www.imanet.org.

The CMA and CFM have 3 parts in common,  and the parts are taken in order designated  by the candidate.
