Fellow IMA’ers: It was a great meeting with Congressman David Price and our peers from the Internal Auditors Association local chapter. We had our biggest turnout of the year and if weather hadn’t threatened, I am sure we would have had more. Our thanks to LoneSource for an informative presentation. If any of your companies want to sponsor a dinner meeting, just let me know. By the time you read this, our return to CMA reviews will be history. However, that was only Part II. Make sure to check page two on the web site for the rest of the story. Do you have a certification? Did you fulfill all of your educational requirements last year? If so, please report to us the professional education you took outside our dinner meetings to meet those requirements. Our dinner speaker for February is Lucy Gallo and the topic will on fraud and its detection. See below for details. The pre-registration deadline will go back to the Monday before the dinner meeting on Thursday the rest of the year. This pre-registration allows us to plan the size room and setup we need for the meeting. However, I do want to call attention to a provision passed by a previous board on reservations. Basically, if you reserve a seat and don’t show up without canceling and that creates a requirement on us to pay for your reservation, then we will ask for your help in defraying that cost to the chapter. Cancellations need to be in by noon of the day of the dinner if we are to successfully reduce our guarantee to the hotel. It is with pleasure that I announce to you that we have selected our next President. It is Kathy Santos-Rezendes, our current VP of Communications and webmaster. She has done a great job over the past two years in helping to rebuild our organization. I know that she will continue to lead us forward and continue our growth. Susan Bennett has also consented to serve on the Board as our new Secretary. Susan was involved in the past and is rejoining us for next year. My thanks to both Kathy and Susan for giving us a head start on next year’s success by volunteering early. We are in the process of establishing next year’s board. For those of you who have considered joining us, please contact myself or Kathy. If the position you are interested in already has a Director, maybe they are going to do something different next year. If not, we can still create an Associate Director position where you can help them do the position, thus relieving them of some of the duties and time requirements of the position. It is a great way to get involved a little at a time until you are ready for a full commitment. Remember, the more we have involved, the less work for each person but the more we can do for the membership in keeping this a vibrant and viable organization. Ronald J. Lowell, Chapter President H: 821-5469; C: 523-2800; rlowell@nc.rr.com
