Chapter Board Descriptions
Vice - President of Administration
 | Member of Executive Committee. |
 | Coordinate directorships for achievement of Administration goals. |
 | Monitors and reports results of competition points to the Board of
Directors and the membership. |
 | Coordinates and submits reports to the National organization. |
 | Monitors activity credits with the National organization and Regional
Council. |
 | Group Insurance coordinator. |
 | Reviews activities required for National point competition and determine
Administration programs needed to meet the requirements. |
Secretary
 | Maintain records of Board meeting attendance. |
 | Prepare and distribute board minutes |
 | Keep official membership lists as distributed by National. Copies
may be distributed |
 | Notify membership as to how to update membership records with
National |
 | Keep all equipment the organization may purchase for use in
educational programs |
Treasurer
 | Develop Package for Seminar Prepayment that fits in with the budget
projections |
 | Prepares annual operating budget. |
 | Deposits and disburses funds. |
 | Presents bills to Board not authorized through the budget. |
 | Prepares and distributes monthly financial reports to the Board with
variations to budget |
 | Prepares and distributes annual report for submission to National
and the membership |
 | Prepares tax form 990. |
Director of Employment
 | Serve as clearinghouse for member resumes |
 | Develop employer contacts through annual letter |
 | Communicate employment opportunities to membership. |
 | Report results to VP Admin as identified by competition points
program |
Vice President of Membership
 | Member of executive committee. |
 | Coordinates directorships for achievement of membership goals. |
 | Coordinates information flow needed by other parts of the organization,
particularly as identified for National point competition. |
 | Designs and implements activities, personally or through the directors,
that will increase or retain membership. |
 | Helps identify opportunities for increased membership participation. |
 | Reviews activities required for National point competition and determine
programs needed to meet the requirements. |
Director of Member Acquisition
 | Develop list of IMA membership advantages. |
 | Develop and implement method of communicating advantages to membership. |
 | Develop packet that would be sent to prospective or new members. |
 | Work with Chairman of Corporate Development to distribute packets to local
companies. |
 | Send new member names to Director of Newsletter, Director of Public
Relations and President. |
 | Report results to VP Administration as identified by the National
Competition Points program. |
Director of Retention
 | Call members whose membership will lapse within 30 days. |
 | Identify members transferring to chapters, send a welcome package and
forward names to President |
 | Schedule one dinner meeting for new member induction. |
 | Try to determine causes for member leaving. |
 | Report results to VP Administration as identified by the National
Competition Points program. |
Director of Special Activities
 | Plans all special activities for Chapter per the following list: |
 | Christmas Party |
 | Spring activity |
 | Fall activity |
 | Winter meeting activity |
 | Report results to VP Administration as identified by the National
Competition Points program. |
Director of Roster
 | Coordinate the production, publication and distribution of the
annual roster. |
 | Report results to VP Administration as identified by the National
Competition Points program. |
Director of Member Attendance
 | Serve as pre-registration contact for meetings |
 | Record and maintain attendance records by membership. |
 | Inform meeting leader of new members and guests in attendance for
recognition. |
 | Have identification badges available at meetings. If possible, Board
members should have a permanent ID badge that they keep for the year. |
 | Communicate pre-registration numbers to the Director of Facilities as
needed. |
 | Report results to VP Administration as identified by the National
Competition Points program. |
Vice President of Education
 | Member of executive committee. |
 | Coordinates directorships for achievement of education goals. |
 | Coordinates information flow needed by other parts of the organization,
particularly as identified for National point competition |
 | Organizes and chairs roundtable discussion for the planning of seminar
topics and speakers for the coming year. |
 | Develop brochure outlining the Professional Education seminar schedule for
the year. |
 | Reviews evaluations of seminars and report results to the Board. |
 | Review activities required for National point competition and determines
programs needed to meet the requirements. |
Director of Seminars
 |
Serve as liaison with identified speakers for
follow-up confirmation of speaking schedule. |
 |
Coordinate facility requirements for speaker
with the Director of Meetings. |
 |
Keep VP Education informed of any potential
changes or conflicts with scheduled speakers. |
 |
Submit speaker biography and topic outline to
Director of Newsletter and Director of Public Relations for communication to
the membership and the public. |
 |
Arrange for speaker gifts. |
Director of Manuscripts
 | Identify requirements for publication in IMA publications. |
 | Communicate to membership opportunity for publication. |
 | Review all manuscripts submitted for final determination as to eligibility
and forward to the National office. |
 | Report results to VP Administration as identified by the National
Competition Points program |
Director of CMA\CFM Programs
 | Identify demand for review courses. |
 | Develop and implement review courses as determined by Board. |
 | Submit publicity material to the Director of Newsletter and the Director
of Public Relations for promotion of classes and how to register for
examinations. |
 | Coordinate CMA\CFM involvement in a CMA\CFM
recognition dinner meeting. |
 | Submit names of members who pass CMA\CFM
examinations to Director of Newsletter, Director of Public Relations and
President for recognition. |
 | Report results to VP Administration as identified by the National
Competition Points program. |
Director of Facilities
 |
Investigate sites for meetings ad compile
alternatives for presentation to the Board. |
 |
Negotiate and sign contract for facilities as
directed by the Board. |
 |
Coordinate all arrangements needed by other
Directors for meetings with facility. |
 |
Serve as clearinghouse for facility
information, including guaranties for meetings or seminars. |
 |
Approve all invoices related to facility
charges. |
 |
Pick up from and return to Secretary all
Chapter owned equipment. |
Director of Program Registration
 | Serve as liaison between North Carolina State CPA Board and the Board. |
 | Identify all requirements for certification and communicate any
deficiencies to the Board. |
 | Apply for certification when due. |
 | Maintain records as required by the State of North Carolina CPA Board. |
 | Report results to VP Administration as identified by the National
Competition Points program |
Vice President of Communications
 | Member of executive committee. |
 | Coordinates directorships for achievement of communications goals. |
 | Coordinates information flow needed by other parts of the organization,
particularly as identified for National point competition. |
 | Reviews activities needed for National point competition and determines
programs needed to meet the requirements. |
Director of Public Relations
 |
Identify Media to be used for publicity by
type of activity. |
 |
Submit activities for all chapter activities
needing publicity to identified media. |
 |
Report results to VP Administration as
identified by the National Competition Points program. |
Director of Web Site
 | Identifies and coordinates with ISP Host. |
 | Creates and maintains website content format. |
 | Ensures all links current and active as informed by the Board. |
 | Sets up links to other Web Sites as identified by the Board. |
 | Maintains content checklist as identified by the National Competition
Points program. |
 | Report results to VP Administration as identified by the National
Competition Points program. |
Director of Newsletter
 | Establish and communicate to the Board a time schedule for newsletter
publication based upon the monthly meeting schedule. |
 | Serve as coordinator with National and the Board members for the material
to be included in the newsletter. |
 | Arrange for distribution to the membership. |
 | Coordinate with the Advertising Director for advertising material. |
 | Maintains content checklist as identified by the National Competition
Points program. |
 | Report results to VP Administration as identified by the National
Competition Points program. |
Director of Advertising
 | Review, compile and revise past advertising strategies for the new year. |
 | Present to the Board a comprehensive pricing package for advertising in
Chapter issued publications. |
 | Serve as liaison between advertisers and other Chapter Directors
responsible for issuing Chapter publications. |
 | Monitor payment due for all advertising and follow up where necessary. |
 | Report results to VP Administration as identified by the National
Competition Points program |
Vice President of Community Relations
 | Member of executive committee. |
 | Coordinates directorships for achievement of community relations’ goals. |
 | Coordinates information flow needed by other parts of the organization,
particularly as identified for National point competition. |
 | Reviews activities needed for National Point Competition and determines
programs needed to meet the requirements. |
Director of Student Activities
 | Identify area college\universities with Accounting Programs and plan
method approaching. |
 | Develop appropriate contact list for each college\university. |
 | Solicit the help of individual Board members to encourage student
participation in a Student Chapter. |
 | Coordinate student involvement in a student recognition dinner meeting. |
 | Promote Student Chapter competition. |
 | Promote scholarship program. |
 | Report results to VP Administration as identified by the National
Competition Points program. |
Director of Community Service
 | Identify and recommend projects to the Board for Chapter participation. |
 | Develop and implement program to solicit member participation in Board
approved programs. |
 | Provide press releases to the Director of Public Relations. |
 | Keep membership informed of opportunities and results. |
 | Complete annual report and forward to VP Administration when due. |
 | Report results to VP Administration as identified by the National
Competition Points program. |
Chair of Corporate Development
 | Identify highest concentration of membership by company. |
 | Develop a contact list for the identified companies. |
 | Recruit a team for a meeting with the contacts to reemphasize the
advantages of IMA membership to their company. This team should include past
presidents if at all possible. |
