Fellow IMA members,
As we all
get ready to welcome Spring, the NC Triangle Chapter has been very busy. If
you missed the February dinner meeting, we had a great Tax update by Lance
Hardin from Hughes, Pittman, and Gupton. He gave us a brief overview of the
past year, along with an outlook of proposed changes by both the IRS and the
President and how they could affect us. The February Lunch & Learn was
about automating the financial closing process, with Tom Turner and Jim
Wilson from Clearview Solutions.
During the
past couple of months, you’ve read my reminders about John Brausch, the
current Chair of the IMA Board of Directors, who will be here for the next
Dinner Meeting on Thursday, March 18th. I really hope you
can make it to this meeting. John will be discussing IMA’s financial and
membership trends, the CMA and its recent changes, along with marketing
efforts for both the IMA and CMA. It will be a great opportunity to hear
about the changes within the organization. In addition to our special
guest, the March Dinner Meeting will also be CMA Recognition Night. If you
have passed the CMA during the past year, please join us as we recognize
your accomplishment!
Later in the
month, the Lunch & Learn will take place on Tuesday, March 23. Naomi
Takeuchi from 1000 Cranes will join us to talk about Social Enterprises and
ITS 598 Guidelines.
Please mark
your calendars for April 21 – 24. The Carolinas Council Spring Conference
will take place at the Ocean Creek Resort & Conference Center in Myrtle
Beach. Please visit the Chapter website for more details.
Also coming
up is the March of Dimes March for Babies. The event will take place on
Saturday, April 24 at Nortel Networks in the Research Triangle Park. For
the past several years, the NC Triangle Chapter has volunteered for this
worthy organization that raises money for miracle babies, born prematurely.
We are seeking volunteers to help with registration and money counting. If
you are interested, please contact Pam Rogero at
pamelaro@nortel.com.
As we start
planning for the 2010 – 2011 year, we are seeking new Board members. If you
are interested in getting more involved in the Chapter, this would be a
great way to do so. Please contact Kimberly Langley at
klangley@rti.org for more information.
Best regards,
Vance Josey
