Our Mission

Welcome to the North Carolina Triangle Chapter #406 of the IMA.  We cover the greater Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill and other communities surrounding the Triangle area.  For those of you who are not familiar with the IMA, we are a professional management accountant chapter with monthly speakers, community service, and social events. Through these events, members are able to network with other professionals who share common interests. We are also part of a larger organization, still called the IMA, which can be beneficial to all professionals. As part of your  membership, you can acquire and maintain two certifications, CMA (Certified Management Accountant) or the CFM (Certified Financial Manager). These two certifications will increase your skill level, as well as professional status.

Who We Are

The IMA is the leading professional organization devoted exclusively to management accounting and financial management. As set forth in its mission and vision statements, its goals are to help members develop both personally and professionally, by means of education, certification, and association with other business professionals.

As a respected leader within the global financial community, the IMA influences the concepts and ethical practices in management accounting and financial management. Its ethical standards provide guidance to practitioners for maintaining the highest levels of ethical conduct.

What We Do

The IMA provides members with extensive opportunities to build their professional knowledge and advance their careers:

Educational activities, including national seminars and conferences, regional and local programs, self-study courses, and in-house and on-line programs.

Two certifications, the Certified in Management Accounting (CMA) and Certified in Financial Management (CFM) designations. Earning and maintaining these certifications testify to the individual's competence and expertise in management accounting and financial management.

Unique sources of information, starting with the IMA's flagship magazine, Strategic Finance, and including the new journal, Management Accounting Quarterly, research reports and additional publications.

Opportunities to meet colleagues and share knowledge and ideas, both in person and online, through local chapters, Member Interest Groups, and Industry Sectors.
