Fellow IMA members,
Summer has arrived! Over
the past year, our North Carolina Triangle Area Chapter has been working
very hard to maintain a strong level of educational and professional
development and community involvement. Once again, the fruits of our labors
have paid off in the areas of IMA competition. After placing 3rd
in the Stevenson Division last year, the Chapter had another very strong
showing and placed 4th, this year! I would like to congratulate
Dan Benvie, for presiding over the Chapter in achieving this great
accomplishment. I would also like to extend a big “thanks” to all the Board
members who contributed time and ideas, and to all members, new and old, who
attended our monthly events. On Dan’s behalf, I will be representing the
Chapter when I accept an award for our achievement at the National IMA
convention in Denver, CO, during the second week of June.
In addition to our
achievements as a Chapter, many things would not have been possible without
the drive and dedication of Kathy Santos-Rezendes and Jamie Long. I cannot
thank them enough for the time and support they both selflessly offer on a
regular basis.
A lot of changes have
occurred over the past year. Some were better than others. I’ll leave it
up to you to decide. In my opinion, one of the really good things is the
Lunch and Learn Series that the Chapter started this past year. For those
who have not checked this out, you cannot get 2 hours of
CPE and a great lunch for a better deal! I certainly hope we can
keep up the excitement for the Series the next year.
The Board of Directors will
be meeting monthly all summer to plan for the upcoming year. If there is a
topic that you would like to learn more about or if there was a previous
speaker you really enjoyed and would like to see again, I encourage you to
contact a Board member or myself and we will try our best to facilitate your
request. Likewise, if you know of anyone who would like to speak at an
upcoming meeting, tell us.
As far as our meeting
location for next year, we plan to continue meeting at the Hilton North
Raleigh on Wake Forest Road,
just north of the Beltline.
I look forward to serving
you over the next year. See you in September!
Best regards,
Vance Josey
